If you like reading blogs, seeing creative ideas, cool photos, and just generally love the deep well of awesomeness found on the Internet, then you should take some time to peruse these blogs. Time Magazine listed the 30 Must-See Tumblr Blogs and believe you me, they are cool. I think it's pretty amazing how the accessibility and affordability of sharing ideas online has given so many creative people a platform to share, inspire, and entertain us.

A weird kinda fun

Last weekend we celebrated a good friend's 30th Birthday. It was also a celebration of Chinese New Year. Oh, and it was also the first time we had Korean food. And one more thing...it turned out to be a wild karaoke party!

We weren't sure what to expect, and even as the night got started we looked at each other with uncertainty. The private room was much bigger than we needed and the stage was a little intimidating. A little wine, sake, Korean vodka, and beer took the intimidation right out and before we knew it people were hopping up on that stage like rock stars!

It was such a good time, and everyone kept mentioning how weird it was that we were having this amazing party at such an off-the-wall location. It was a weird fun, and an unforgettable celebration.

For those of you who wish you could be here for Sundance, did you hear that Yahoo! is streaming some of the shorts online for a limited time, for free?! Go HERE to see some great short films. Of the films they're currently showing, we saw Aquadettes, Dol (First Birthday), and Odysseus' Gambit this weekend. They were all great and you should totally go watch them. Then you can pretend that we're hanging out and Sundancing together!

When we go on long road trips (or even short trips down the street) I am very rarely the driver. When Tyler is with me, I just really enjoy being a passenger. When we drove south this weekend I took advantage of the hours on the road to read magazines, eat pumpkin seeds, and look out the window at the changing scenery.

At one point on the way home, after a very long time of looking at the drab, brown landscape, I started to see different colors, textures and shapes as we passed by. We had a little bit of snow and even saw some signs on life. I crawled into the very back of the car to retrieve my camera and ended up taking photos out my window the rest of the way home.

At first glance I realize you may just see brown and drab. But if you look closer you might see the pretty layers of earth and the beauty in this quiet, expansive land.

Has this week seemed crazy long to you, too? I am so looking forward to packing a weekend bag and heading out of town for a 3 day break. We are going with Tyler's parents to Mesquite, where it's supposed to be 60's and sunny. I'm exciting to wear a lighter jacket, play $2 blackjack at the casino, spend some one on one time with the very best in-laws, and take a day trip to Las Vegas to shop at Lulu and Zara. (and see a show, and eat at a buffet, and stock up at Trader Joe's)

As I begin typing, I'm seriously doubting whether I'll actually post this. There's something that's been bugging me about my own self and I thought maybe I'd share. Maybe. Here goes...

When I was taking photos and annoying the beautiful Courtney at brunch on Sunday, we started to chat about photos of ourselves. I had been thinking about this lately, how even though our friends and family see us all the time - with or without makeup, with our hair done perfectly or pony tail, we still feel self conscious and frankly, horrified, if a photo is captured that represents us at what we consider our worst. We obviously see ourselves in such a different way than our loved ones see us. Why don't we care in person, but we care if it's photographed? Is it the permanence of the photo, or the fact that we have to look at ourselves rather than just be seen?

So, shortly after this little chat there was a photo taken of Tyler and I. I'm wearing minimal makeup, my (dirty) hair is piled on my head, and to say it isn't one of my favorite photos of myself would be an understatement. As the blogger/camera owner here I could just act like this photo doesn't exist. But that doesn't really seem fair. I feel as though I take great care in only posting photos of people that I think they would like, because I personally deem them beautiful. What if they don't always agree?

I honestly thought that maybe I'd post this one. It was the first one taken, generously out of focus, and much more attractive in my opinion.

But now I've decided to suck it up and share this one. I don't love myself here, but I do love that husband of mine. And I sure loved this day, and this moment spent with friends we adore. And I think that's worth capturing.

Just Enough Sunday

Yesterday we had one of those Sundays that you could do over and over, every weekend, and always love it. It was the perfect mix of relaxing and doing, alone and together, inside and out. The formula was like this:

Step 1: Sleep in as late as you want

Step 2: Read magazines in bed and visit

Step 3: Get out of bed only to bundle up for a brisk winter walk (nobody knows you're still in your PJ's because you're wearing a long coat)

Step 4: Get ready quickly because your walk took a little longer than you intended (and you're still wearing those PJ's)

Step 5: Meet friends for brunch at The Copper Onion

Step 6: Take lots of photos because you're trying to remember to take more photos because you love to take photos

Step 7: Go drink even more coffee at The Rose Establishment

Step 8: Go to Brewvies to see Drive (yes, you can do this every Sunday because in case you didn't know this movie has Ryan Gosling in it...every Sunday seems reasonable now, right?) (Oh, and we loved the 80's vibe soundtrack)

Step 9: Go home to make dinner and have dinner with little brothers in law

Step 10: Laze around in your PJ's until bedtime

Now, in relation to Step 6 I must say I took a decent amount of photos on Sunday. However, I love these two so much that I have decided they are just enough to capture the simple enjoyment of the day.

Where to begin...again.

Shall I make up some clever excuse about why I've been absent? Perhaps I've been too busy with work...or too busy with play. Whatever story I can conjure will surely be more interesting than the truth...which is nothing. Just that I haven't been here, doing this, for a little while now. But I'm thinking of making a return. For my grandma who asked, and amberlynn who inquired. It has come to my attention that someone was taking a peek after all and maybe those someones are worth keeping to it. I think so.

So what do you say I just start fresh? I feel a nagging to provide a 2 month update on what we've been up to but that undertaking is not appealing at all and would most likely lead to another extended absence just to avoid it altogether. If it's alright with you, I say we skip it and begin again...with 2012 and not looking back.

Okay, I lied. Let's look back just a little ways to New Year's Eve. It was fun and totally worth repeating. Here is some iPhone evidence of a fabulous celebration with a gaggle of people we love.

We're sitting at our neighborhood coffee shop, sipping lattes and doing our thing. On the walk over we dodged blobs of snow falling from the trees trying to land on our heads. With our hoodies and coats on, all bundled up, we made our way over in the year's first big snow. Sigh...

To hold on to what's left of warmer memories I've been going through my photos from San Francisco. It's hard to believe that just 2 weeks ago we were exploring the city and enjoying the company of our long lost friends all the while basking in 80 degree sunny days. Alas, those days are gone and winter has arrived. I shouldn't complain too much, it held out until November which is pretty generous.

Let's look back on some photos of SF, imagining ourselves shopping, walking, eating, and soaking in the energy of the city....in 80 degree sun.

We spent last weekend adventuring around San Francisco with some of our favorite people. What a great city to explore. I could have used another day or two, but isn't that always true of vacations?

The trolleys may look charming in photographs but don't let them fool you! I wasn't a fan of this ride. We waited in line for nearly an hour to ride the trolley from Pier 39 to Union Square (10 minutes via cab). I know it's one of those things you just have to experience...so I'm glad we did it, but man, what a pain.

Last weekend we hosted a pre-game brunch at our place. Looking back a week later, I barely even remember the outcome of the game because the brunch was so much fun. (selective memory)

We had Irish coffees, bloody mary's, mimosas, and screwdrivers. Oh yeah, and some food. We had a hash brown/egg/cheese/mushroom/vegetarian sausage casserole, Courtney's delicious baked french toast, and Natalie's famous fruit salad. It was delish!

I was nervous about hosting a brunch because I wasn't sure what to cook. I don't usually make breakfasty foods for crowds. The breakfast casserole was a big hit, and you could hardly tell the sausage was vegetarian because it mixed in great with all the hash browns and cheeeeese!

I added, removed, added, and ultimately removed this bag from my virtual shopping cart this week. (Hey, it's on sale...don't judge. I said I put it back!)

We're thinking about grabbing a coffee and strolling here tomorrow morning before they close for winter. I wonder if we'll see the Occupy Wall Street folks, since they're camped out in Pioneer Park?

Did you hear The Leonardo finally reopened? We're excited to do some exploring.

Moab, finally.

In September we FINALLY made a trip to Moab, Utah. Why did we wait so long?! How have I been missing this for {almost} 7 years? It was awesome. Amazing. Incredible. And we can't wait to go back.

We shared a condo with 5 other friends plus 2 munchkins. We spent our days hiking and our evenings relaxing with drinks, laughing, and playing games.

In Arches National Park we saw Delicate Arch, North and South Windows, Turret Arch, Balanced Rock, and Landscape Arch. My favorite was definitely Delicate. It's the kind of scene you see pictures of and think you know what you're going to find. But when you finally round the corner at the end of the hike, what you see is nothing like what you imagined - it's a million times better and totally unbelievable.

We also hiked Corona Arch and found ourselves heading back in the middle of a big storm. It was a little scary and sand was flying in our faces, but it was a beautiful sight. We also stopped to check out Dead Horse Point on our way out of town.

In addition to the great outdoors, we enjoyed some good food and drinks. We ate at Moab Brewery, had a tasty bloody mary (and filled our growlers) at Eddie McStiff's, inhaled some pasta at Pasta Jay's, and ate some brekkie at Peace Tree Cafe.

Real Life

I'm heading back to work tomorrow after being on vacation for a little over 2 weeks. I'm supposed to feel refreshed, energized, and ready to hit the ground running back at work. But that's not exactly how I feel. I guess I feel refreshed and energized about my real life. You know, the one that doesn't have to go to work. This vacation afforded me a lot of time at home, a lot of time with Tyler, and a lot of time with our friends and family. More than anything, I've come to appreciate that my life is pretty awesome. Maybe that's why we have to go to work, so we truly appreciate our real lives, right?

I'm at the beginning of the inevitable vacation hangover. I drank one too many days of blissful, sunny freedom.

A wise woman taught me that it's a good idea for women to live on their own, at least once in their lives. To learn to be alone and be okay with that. To learn to be self sufficient, not splitting the rent and bills. To learn what kind of home you like without someone else's opinion concerning you. To know that you can always take care of yourself, no matter what.

Last month I was lucky to help my sister move into her own place for the first time. She picked her own cozy apartment, paid her own rent, bought herself some art just because she liked it. Her new little town is so welcoming and charming. I not only feel great that she is venturing out on her own, but that she will be nestled in such a warm community.

Big fat thanks go out to Rachel, Julie and their boys for helping us move up and down and up and down the stairs. Have I mentioned how much I love the people of the Midwest?

A week or so ago I took a quick trip to Minnesota to visit my sister, Rachael, and help her move into a new apartment. It had been too many years since my last visit to that region. I don't think I appreciated the landscape as much when I lived there. I was mesmerized by the sea of green lushness. There were things growing everywhere...like soy beans and corn. The sky was huge because the land is flat. It was gorgeous and I loved being back in that neck of the woods.

I am still going through my photos from that weekend, but these ones caught my eye and I wanted to share. There is something about the images that speak Midwestern to me, something about having a good sense of humor and a twinkle in your eye.

It's that point in the summer where I start to wonder if I've taken advantage of everything summer has to offer. Have we taken enough walks? Eaten on enough patios? Lazed by the pool enough? Soaked up all the sun we possibly could? What else do we need to do before it starts SNOWING?! The panic is starting to set in.

One thing we definitely haven't done enough of is BBQ with friends. Earlier in the summer we had a most fun time at Ryan's house on his fancy new patio. The kids ran wild while the adults (am I really an adult now?) visited and sipped strawberry lemon cocktails. It was beautiful weather and a perfectly relaxing evening.

Now quick, let's do it again before it's too late!

I wish I may, I wish I might, keep summer here for many more nights...

More than just a pretty face

As a big sister and an aunt to little girls, this post from Cup of Jo really resonated with me. Since reading it I have thought a lot about my interactions with the 11 and 6 year old nieces that I adore. How often is the first thing I say, "I love your pretty dress!" or "Your hair looks so pretty today!" Sure, we'll talk about school, read books, plan birthday parties, and hang out. But do I put too much emphasis on how they look when they run up to give me a hug? I'm going to make a conscious effort from here on out to focus more on the other qualities that make them amazingly special and encourage them to tell me more about their lives and interests, rather than focusing too much on the fact that they are also incredibly, undeniably beautiful little ladies.

Sundance Resort

To celebrate our anniversary last weekend we went here. I think we'll have to make it an annual trip, it was so amazing. That part of Utah is beyond gorgeous, I can't believe we haven't spent time there before.

We went up early to hike to Stewart Falls. After we were good and dirty from the hike, we checked into our room and relaxed. I took a nap while Tyler read his book on the patio, with the calm sound of water running by. Our room was so beautiful, it had pockets of natural light floating in and we felt nestled away in the quiet forest.

We had drinks at the Owl Bar, dinner at the Tree Room, and brunch at the Foundry Grill. The food was delicious, and I loved the Sundance Cabernet.

If anyone is looking for a not too distance getaway for a special occasion, we highly recommend Sundance.

My, my, how time flies.

This weekend we are celebrating our FOUR year wedding anniversary. We have been reminiscing all week about the time in our lives when we got married. We'll say, "Four years ago today Amber and Amanda came to town!" or "Four years ago today we had our rehearsal dinner with family and friends (remember those Irish car bombs Jonny made?!)" or " Four years ago today we got to spend an entire evening with people we love and rarely get to see."

It was truly an amazing and special time for us and we will always remember our wedding day as a highlight in our lives. Even more special is that four years later we are even more in love, even better friends to eachother, and even happier than we've ever been.

Go for a hike around Lake Coeur d'Alene. It's a quick drive from Spokane into the quaint town of Coeur d'Alene. The lake is grand and sparkling, and the greenery of Washington is everywhere. After our beautiful hike we found a good lunch spot on Main street where we could people watch and grab a bite to eat.

Fun thing #2 to do when visiting Spokane, WA

Ok, so my parents actually live in Liberty Lake, Washington - not Spokane. But we all just call it Spokane because that's where we used to live, and it's practically the same place anyway. Moral of the story (which I haven't started telling yet) is that fun thing #2 to do when visiting Spokane is in Liberty Lake.

My parents live next to a lovely little park and during the summer they have all sorts of cute, neighborhoody things going on. When we were there they had a movie in the park, and it was F.U.N. We popped at least 4 bags of buttery popcorn (of which, Sasha ate at least 2 herself) and took some licorice and champagne to the outdoor party. Yes, popcorn and champagne. The movie itself was a little on the lame side (August Rush) but just being outside under the stars with the fam made for an unforgettable evening.

So next time you're visiting Liberty Lake and calling it Spokane, make time for a movie at Pavillion Park.

Last Saturday we drove up to Arbor Crest Wine Cellars to walk around the charming property and enjoy some wine. The weather was gorgeous and the old buildings were really beautiful and interesting. Everyone was patient with me while I took hundreds of photos :)

We had a wine tasting and previewed some delicious reds and whites. My Dad bought us each a bottle to take home with us, I picked the Syrah 2009. We also bought a bottle of their refreshing sauvignon blanc to sit and enjoy with some cheese and crackers. It was so relaxing to just sit outside visiting with my family.

This was one of the highlights of my weekend and I can't wait to go back and take Tyler with me.

I just returned from a perfect little weekend away after visiting my family in Washington. We did so many fun things together and I'll try to post more pictures soon.

But for now, just these. I hurried and took these photos of my spunky sister, Rachael, before realizing that my exposure settings were off. By the time I adjusted the moment had passed. Luckily when I uploaded my 200+ photos from the weekend, these little gems stood out among the crowd. My technical skills may be a little off but Rachael looks perfect.

She looks perfect because she's beautiful, smiling, enjoying, laughing, relaxing, and being herself. Just how I love her to be. The fab new hairdo and bottle of wine on the table may have also contributed to her perfectness. :)

Happy 4th of July! Are you celebrating our country's freedom with fireworks? BBQ's? Sleeping in and savouring a day off?

We are enjoying the quiet of a Monday morning at home, which we don't often get to experience. I was thinking about how we have spent this holiday in recent years, and hands down my favorite of all time was 2009. We went on a road trip to Washington to visit my family. We drove through Montana and stayed a few days at Glacier National Park. It was so beautiful.

These pictures from 2009 make me want to pack up the car and venture out again. Maybe this time to Moab, Zion, or some other wonder of Utah that I have yet to see. (this is where everyone I meet says "you haven't been to MOAB!?") I know, the horror.

Last night we were spoiled with a beautiful concert at the Salt Lake City Library. The Secret Sisters, Brandi Carlisle, and Ray LaMontagne entertained us while we sipped cold microbrews and visited with friends on our lawn blankets.

If you haven't listened to Ray before, you simply must. His raspy voice is heart-melting and all the ladies in the crowd were swooning.

Penny and Malcolm are roommates in Spokane, Washington. They just moved in to their new apartment last weekend.

Penny is teeny, tiny, and sweet. She is just a puppy so she nibbles on whatever she can find. She loves the camera and wants to be on America's Next Top Model.

Malcolm is big, strong, and assertive. But, he's not as tough as he looks. He looks Penny in the eye and shows her how to run like a grown up.

Today turned out to be one of those "perfect" days. You know the kind where you sleep in just enough, throw on a sweatshirt and go to brunch, linger in the bookstore and buy a used book for $7, stock up on all your favorite groceries for the week, then head home to cuddle up with a husband and a blanket while it rains outside.

Then, just when you think you've settled into a lazy, cloudy day...the sun pops up! Surprise! So you slip on those flip flops, grab the camera and some books, and head out for a walk in the neighborhood. You run into all sorts of interesting things, and end up at the local coffee shop. It's nice enough to sit outside, so you do.

The only bad part is knowing that the day will end and tomorrow you have to go back to work...even though you wish you could hit the "repeat" button and do it all over again...perfectly.

Pretty Spring Sun

I found these gorgeous blooms this morning when we took a walk in our neighborhood. Looks to me like Spring might actually be rounding the corner. Fingers crossed!

We are getting ready to ease back into the work week after a great weekend. We ate some delicious food (Cannella's, Eggs in the City, Squatters) and got to hang out with some of our favorite people. We are expecting higher temperatures in the week ahead and hope that we can take our bikes out for their first ride of the year.

I read this article today and couldn't help but feel inspired. All too often I complain about circumstances or miss the beauty of what's right in front of me. This has been especially true this Spring as I anxiously await warmer days. The cold, rainy, cloudy days can get the best of me.

So this afternoon I took a few moments to see what was in front of me. The simple gleam of light on a vase, my ghostly reflection in the window. Tyler turned 30 last weekend so we had a little bitty shindig with some dear friends. Highlights included a surprise visit from Angela and a gorgeous, delicious cake made by Courtney. Our home is small but we managed to squeeze everyone in and had such a fun night! Thanks to Ryan and Josh for letting us borrow plates, forks, and beer mugs :) We didn't have to use any paper plates or cups...just the way Tyler likes it.

Tyler, of course, didn't want any gifts. In lieu, we decided to raise money for Peaceful Uprising. Thanks to everyone who contributed, we raised more than $250!!

Tyler, I hope that your birthday was everything you had hoped. I am so grateful for every single day that I have with you, and feel so lucky to have celebrated another year of your beautiful life.

Happy weekend! Is it warm and sunny where you are? We're getting LOTS of snow, and normally I would be complaining and wishing for spring to hurry on up. Today, though, I decided to bundle up and make the most of it. It's amazing how different my neighborhood looks when covered in heavy, fresh snow. I have taken this same walk around the block so many times before, and every time I take my camera I come home with a totally new perspective. I think it's quite beautiful...for now.

Kellie Marie was born on February 4, 1959. She would be 52 years and 1 day old today.

This morning I was drawn to these photos that my grandma gave to me. Maybe this is why I love photography. Because I can look through these photos from many yesterday's ago...and feel her life. I can see her healthy, laughing, and vibrant. As I was taking photos of photos it almost felt like she was looking at me, they were all looking at me. And they were smiling so I could take their picture. And we were together. There is something beautiful about this that makes me feel close to her, and miss her.

Sundance 2011

It's no secret that we LOVE Sundance. We start to get excited sometime in October, when we know it's right around the corner. Then we pick up the film guide and pour over the films, defending our picks and trying to earn our favorites a spot on the list. Then we see the films. Then we keep a list of all the films we didn't see, so that we can look out for them throughout the year!

This year we had an ally who was also buying tickets and agreed to partner up and try to get tickets for all of us. It worked out great, and we saw more films than ever. Here's the complete list. I saw the first 6, Tyler saw all 8.

Vampire

A little...well, a lot creepy. Definitely interesting, and not what you think.

Take Shelter

I love Michael Shannon. He was great in Revolutionary Road, and is great in Boardwalk Empire. He's great here as well. The entire cast was at the film, which made for a fun Q&A.

Martha Marcy May Marlene - Nicole's #1

This was my fave. I love the scenery and camera work. Elizabeth Olsen (sister of the twins) was fantastic and definitely not performing in anyone's shadow.

Documentary Showcase I

Some hilarious, some motion sickness, some heart wrenching. A perfect shorts program.

Cedar Rapids

We saw this film at 9AM (see bloody mary's below.) It was a little early for the raunchy humor, but was overall extremely funny.

Salvation Boulevard

We all agreed that this was disappointing. It will probably get picked up because of the well known cast. I think it would have been better with unknown actors. Except Marisa Tomei was awesome, because she's awesome.

Senna - Tyler's #1

Tyler was really impressed with the way this documentary was made. Using tons of actual footage and minimal narration, it seemed authentic and not manufactured. (I didn't see this one)

Shorts Program V

I didn't see this one either. I hear good things, and have always believed that you can't go wrong with shorts.

The weather has been gorgeous this weekend. Still cold - but sunny! Which makes winter bearable and walking around for Sundance enjoyable. Tyler and I took a quick walk this morning and captured some photos of frozen tundra and morning sunlight.

We had a blast with our friends on New Year's Eve. It started with some drinks and snacks at our place before we ventured out into the cold for some fun on the town. Some good friends were in town from the East Coast, and Courtney wore the most beautiful vintage style dress.

This weekend we are gearing up for Sundance...and I am SO excited. We have 2 films today, 1tomorrow, 2 Monday, and another on Wednesday. I'll fill you in on all the details a little later.

In December we spent a week with my family over Christmas. It was such a fun time full of old traditions (cookie making, matching pj's, tons of mom's home cooked food!) I woke up early this morning to start cooking. I chopped vegetables, melted butter, dusted off the crockpot, pulled out old recipes, tied on my apron and got started. As I cooked, I couldn't help but think of all the moms I'm thankful for in my life. Now that the corn pudding is in the oven, the stuffing in the crockpot, and the apple crisp chilling in the fridge, here's where my heart sits...

I'm thankful for my mom Kellie Marie, who very much loved her Nicole Marie. She would cry when I would go visit dad, because she was going to miss me. She shared me with other moms for as long as I can remember.

I'm thankful for my mom Hilary. She changed my diapers, gave me hugs and brushed my hair even though she just met me. She taught me about integrity, and made sure I knew how to take care of myself. She showed me how to cook the apple crisp. She has loved me for as long as I can remember.

I'm thankful for Jeri. She let me come over to do my laundry when I was in college and I can still smell the clean, fresh smell of my clothes from her home. She mended my dresses and made me Wisconsin winter hats. She hugged me like she knew me her whole life. She shared her corn pudding recipe so I could make it for Thanksgiving today.

I'm thankful for Kristi. She let me move in because my family was too far away. She asked me if I was "in like" with that one boy. She had the biggest smile on her face when she ran down the stairs and into my room to tell me that Amber was having a baby. She would be so incredibly proud of the wonderful mother that Amber is now.

I'm thankful for Linda. She made the apron that I wore today. She baked the cookies that helped me mend my broken heart. She sent me a special book when I lost my mom, and it's sitting on my bookshelf now.

I'm thankful for Kathy. She has treated me like her family since the day I walked into her home. I'm so fortunate to have found them, and to have a mother in law that I adore. She raised a loyal, honest, fascinating, incredible son and she shares him with me.

Today I'm thankful for all the moms in my life. The women who have treated me like their own, taken care of me, and loved me when they didn't have to. Thank you.

The time between August and today has passed so quickly! I've been holding on to this update since September, and just never got around to it. Over the summer my sisters, dad, and I secretly planned a surprise birthday celebration for my mom. It all came together over one particular September weekend when Sasha, Rachael, and I all flew in to town to spend the weekend with her (Tia was our accomplice on the ground.) She was beyond surprised and so happy to have all her girls home for a few days. We spoiled her with martini's, family dinner, and a girls evening at the spa. It was such a special weekend for all of us, we don't see each other often since we're sprinkled all over the country. We were all really proud of dad, because he is NOT good at keeping secrets and he kept everything hush-hush for months.

We returned home today from a quick weekend camping trip with some great friends. Our house is in it's standard messy state, with a cooler in the middle of the living room and dirty clothes that smell like campfire. But it's always so great to come home. So great in fact, that the first thing we did was shower and hop into a "real bed" for a 2 1/2 hour nap!

Since we bought our condo last October I have been meaning to show it off a little more. The messy state always seems to distract me from wanting to share. So, last week I took some quick photos of favorite spots in our cozy little home. Maybe someday soon I'll give it a good scrub and share some more "whole room" photos. :)

Last weekend at the Utah Pride Festival we came upon a 2 for 1 deal on all-access passes to the Damn These Heels! Film Festival. I am SO excited to see some great films this weekend. The weather is supposed to be cloudy and rainy, which is perfect for a weekend full of films.

We went to opening night last night and saw Joan Rivers - A Piece of Work. The documentary takes you through a year in the life of Joan. It was amazing to see her real life, what motivates her to be who she is, and put some perspective around a lot of the assumptions that are made about her. The woman is 75 years old and still a working comedian! And, the most dreadful thing she can imagine is retiring. It was pretty fascinating.

There are some really great films to see this weekend at the Tower Theater on 9th & 9th. I'm most excited to see 8: The Mormon Proposition and Howl. Everyone should take a look at the list of films, grab some dinner at Pago, Mazza, or Thai Garden & Noodle House and make a date of it!

A Baby Shower

A couple of week's ago we took a road trip to Vegas. It was Jonny's big 3-0 and we wanted to celebrate in style. The road trip was a blast, cramming a bunch of people we love into the back of our trusty little prius. We only stopped once along the way. Apparently there was some major fun awaiting us in the City of Sin.

This one time I went to Vegas and it was 90 degrees. And we sipped Mai Tai's by the pool. And I loved it.

I took these photos yesterday when we went out for our weekend walk for coffee. I don't know why, but I really like the way the photos look together like this.

The building is a hospital near our condo. This is the old part of the building, and I love how the vines are growing up to the top.

The blossoms remind me that winter is worth trudging through just so that I appreciate the beautiful colors of Spring waiting for us on the other side.

The Portland Farmer's Market was amazing! I never knew a farmer's market could be so plentiful! Don't get me wrong, I LOVE the market here in Salt Lake...but Portland has an abundance of everything! Flowers, vegetables, fruits, you name it. I seriously wanted to grab a basket full of everything.

We have had an especially wonderful weekend. Probably because we knew that we were losing an hour and we didn't want to waste a single minute!

On Saturday Tyler introduced me to the Beehive Tea Room. How have I NOT been here before? The cutest little place, filled with eclectic granny style. It makes me want to say things like "dainty" and "simply divine."

We also had a lovely dinner with a friend at Tin Angel. It was AMAZING. I had mushroom risotto for the first time in my life, and I have a feeling it's going to be one of those dishes that I crave. Kind of like the lasagna at Canella's, the white pizza at Este, the veggie gyro at Aristo's. The cozy atmosphere and good red wine were perfect for the rainy/snowy Saturday we were in the midst of. I can't wait to go back when the sun is shining so we can sit on the patio drinking good white wine!

Sundance started for us in Park City last Saturday and ended in Salt Lake City this weekend. We saw so many great films, including 2 shorts programs, 2 dramas, and 2 documentaries. There are so many movies that we wanted to see and couldn't, because there are only so many hours in a week! We've started a list so that we can look out for them in the future.

We had a 3-day Weekend...

After 2 1/2 years, we finally unpack the china.

As a wedding gift my parents bought us a beautiful set of china. The poor gift has been hiding away in the original boxes for over 2 years now. We have been on the lookout for a good cabinet that fits in our little home and we finally found the perfect piece.

We were snooping around at Emilie Jayne, a consignment home store in Salt Lake City. They have the cutest things, from dishes to mirrors to - lucky us - perfect little china cabinets.

Tyler loved the fact that we were reusing furniture that someone else no longer wanted. I loved that I could finally pull that lovely China out of those boxes! Win win.

The only good thing about this time of year is Sundance!

Today we had our annual trip to the bowling alley for Tanner's Birthday. He's 15 today and I swear he grows an inch a week. We took a back-to-back picture last year and another one this year. Kid's growing like a weed and quickly passing the 6 ft. mark.

In other highlights, Tyler beat his dad by 1 pin in both games and Brenna got a strike by pushing the bowling ball as slow as a snail down the lane. 2010 is off to a great start!
